Fare Inspector (CATS/Transit Security)

Provides inspection and enforcement services to ensure patrons safety and compliance with CATS self service fare policy on the Light Rail. Will daily inspect and verify the validity of tickets/passes, issue citations for ordinance violations, provide follow-up on citations including court appearances, instigating follow-up reports in all activities, providing information to all patrons on all CATS services including passenger information, fares, ordinances, service schedules; coordinates activities with CATS Security, CMPD Transit Police, or other CATS personnel; provides crowd control and customer communications during accidents; will conduct special assignments, surveys, administrative support; interface with public groups or other operations support activities as required; will as a goodwill ambassador and provide assistance including boarding and de-boarding as needed. Requires High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two years of experience involving security, compliance, or law enforcement; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with strong writing skills and the ability to report events and activities in a factual, clear and concise manner; demonstrated personal and problem solving skills with the ability to be informative, patient, tactful, diplomatic , and ethical; must be able to exert physical effort while standing, walking and lifting materials, tools and objects with ability to be mobile 100% of work time. Work will involve varying shifts and holiday work schedules. Final candidates are subject to a pre-employment physical. Criminal background, DMV and drug screening required. Must be able to obtain a City’s driving permit.
