CMPD Summer College Volunteer Program
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Volunteer Unit has recently included a Summer College Volunteer Program to our current list of volunteer opportunities. College students all over the state seek short term volunteer assignments during the summer months that will allow them an opportunity to work in their field of study without interfering with their school schedules. Our volunteer program recently created a short term volunteer program that would be a great opportunity for college students. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work in one of several CMPD units as department need dictates and at the discretion of the unit supervisor. A list and description of current assignments is included with this email as an attachment. These opportunities will include a Ban Book Project, Rental Property Ordinance Project, Electronic Monitoring Unit, Homicide Unit, Fraud Unit, CMPD Historic Project, Computer Technology Services, and both North and Independence Division offices.
This opportunity is open to full time traditional students who are enrolled in an accredited college or university. (Full-time is defined as 12 hours or more per semester) Interested applicants will need to fill out an application and return it to my office before April 12, 2010. The applicant must include a letter of recommendation from an instructor, advisor or counselor; and have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0. An official transcript must accompany the returned application.
Applicants will undergo a criminal background check, interview with the Volunteer Liaison Officer, and attend a volunteer orientation after selections have been made.
Applications should be mailed, faxed or emailed to the CMPD Volunteer Unit as shown below. You may contact Officer Ratliff directly at 704 432-0430 or email at cratliff@cmpd.org. or by mail at:
