Among the more than 60 students recognized were two students from the Public Safety division.

In the Fire Protection Technology, Michael Delaney was nominated by Instructor Leonard Edge.  In addition to his academic achievements, Michael is a Red Cross Volunteer and a life member of Buchanan Engine Company  No. 1, Inc. and his career goal is to become a Fire Inspector.

In the Criminal Justice Technology Program, Program Chair William Kennedy nominated Ashley Smith. Ashley is a nontraditional student, taking primarily night courses and on line courses. She is active in the community, serving as a member of the community's social committee and also participates in a variety of charitable causes, including the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program, the American Heart Association’s "Start! Heart Walk" program and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk. She plans to complete her AAS degree and continue work in the tela-communication industry as a Fraud Analyst, partnering with the criminal justice system in fraud investigation.

Both students are outstanding examples of student excellence and commitment to the community.
