About Public Safety

The Public Safety Division at Central Piedmont Community College is designed to educate the professionals who are entrusted with the safety and security of our community.

Obviously, this includes police, fire and medic, but it also includes the courts, probation, corrections, and emergency management. CPCC’s Public Safety division offers college level curriculum classes for students interested in going on to criminal justice and fire protection technology careers, as well as in-service training for public safety professionals.

The Public Safety Division is based in the Claudia Watkins Belk Center for Justice on Central Piedmont Community College's North Campus in Huntersville, NC. The Criminal Justice section is also housed on the north campus, while the Fire Protection Technology Program is located on the college's West Campus. The program also offers courses at other CPCC campuses and other regional locations.

We currently offer curriculum programs that allow students to earn an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice or Fire Protection Technology. In addition, the college offers Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET), which provides the training necessary for individual to become law enforcement officer in North Carolina. We also provide advance and in service training, including the college’s American Academy of Applied Forensics (AAAF), which provides state of the art training in forensics for law enforcement.
