As part of CPCC’s commitment to being a Learning College and a leader in workforce development, the College offers the Leadership Institute for first-level managers and supervisors and those who aspire to these positions.
The Leadership Institute addresses the competencies that have been identified to help CPCC achieve its mission and vision. Enrollment is limited and is by invitation only.
The Leadership Institute covers the following topics:
- Managing Vision and Purpose
- Developing Direct Reports
- Conflict Management
- Directing Others
- Decision Quality
- Motivating and Influencing Others
This program meets once per month, usually on a Friday, from September through April with some sessions being offered in a day-long retreat format. Participants are expected to attend all sessions. Supervisors are asked to make sure that participants are aware of the time commitment and are prepared to devote the necessary time to this leadership development opportunity. Graduates will receive a certificate upon completion of the entire program.
The Leadership Institute is based on continuing research by the Center for Creative Leadership, Robert Eichinger, Michael Lombardo, John Kotter, Kevin Cashman, James Kouzes, Barry Posner, Warren Bennis, and Noel Tichy.
