Learning College and Core Competencies

Central Piedmont Community College is a Learning College.

A learning college places learning first and provides educational experiences for learners any way, anywhere, anytime. Its mission is not instruction, but to produce learning with every student by whatever means work best. The college itself is a learner, continuously learning how to produce more learning with each entering student.

Teaching Core Competencies

In support of the Learning College initiative, four core competencies have been identified as critical to the success of every CPCC graduate. The competencies were developed in response to requests from area employers, survey results from College faculty and staff, best practices of other learning colleges, results from the 21st Century Learning Outcomes Project, the CPCC general education goals, and current research on teaching and learning.
