Student SNAP FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about Student SNAP accounts.

  1. Why do I need a SNAP account?
  2. I created an account when I applied to the college. Is that my SNAP account?
  3. I had a student SNAP account created before July 2006, a classmate of mine had their SNAP account created after July 2006. Why is their SNAP ID easier to remember?
Q. Why do I need a SNAP account?
A. Your snap account allows you to login to CPCC's many personalized online services. A SNAP account is required to register for classes online. Your SNAP account is also used to access online content for classes and to login to computers in CPCC's many computer labs on campus.
Q. I created an account when I applied to the college. Is that my SNAP account?
A. No. The account you created on the CFNC/NCMentor site is for their site only. This enables you to return to their site and have them pull your application information back up. You must use the SNAP application to get a SNAP account.
Q. I had a student SNAP account created before July 2006, a classmate of mine had their SNAP account created after July 2006. Why is their SNAP ID easier to remember?
A. SNAP accounts created after July 2006 use a new naming scheme for the ID to help students remember them. We hope to announce a process in the Fall of 2006 to allow students with old student SNAP ID's to convert to the new format.
