Courses Available Online

The following LEX classes are currently offered online:

LEX 110: Offered fall and spring semesters only
LEX 121: Offered fall and spring semesters only
LEX 280: Offered beginning Spring 2006

There are many non-LEX classes offered online as well. You will need to consult the class schedule each semester to find out which non-LEX classes are available in this format.

If you're not sure whether you should take an online class, or would like to find out more information about how online classes work, please visit the Virtual Campus Website.

The ABA Guidelines for the Approval of Paralegal Education Programs require that paralegal program students must complete at least ten (10) LEX credit hours in the traditional classroom setting. This is a requirement of the American Bar Association and will not be waived under any circumstances. When a student applies for graduation, the Graduation Office will confirm that the student has met this requirement before certifying the student for graduation.

Just prior to or during the first week of classes you will get an email from your instructor about your course.  For LEX 110, this will include information on the date and times available for the mandatory orientation.  You will not be able to participate in LEX 110 without attending the on-campus mandatory orientation (this is not the same as the online orientation the College offers you to help you prepare to take an online course).  The current online classes and instructors are:
LEX 110 Introduction to Paralegal:  Amy Ma
LEX 121 Legal Research and Writing II: Nina Neal
LEX 280 Ethics Keith Shannon

Students attending online LEX courses must be:

well-motivated
able to work independently
able to submit assignments in Microsoft Word
able to attend an on-campus orientation and take exams at the Cato Campus (each course typically has 2-3 exams per semester; LEX 121 may not require on-campus exams).
