Video Captioning (Published: 07/14/2016)

The Digital Learning Accessibility Committee is tasked with ensuring student learning at Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) is completely accessible and beneficial to all students as required by the American Disabilities Act (ADA). One of the areas of compliance is to ensure that videos are captioned. The current process involves captioning videos in online courses that have a student with a documented disability. This process requires that videos be stored in a specific place. Between now and Dec. 15, 2016, all faculty are asked to migrate all CPCC-produced digital video that they are using in their classes into one centralized location, Panopto. This will help CPCC move forward with ADA compliance.

By the end of July 201[7], faculty cannot add any non-CPCC produced video that is not captioned and ADA compliant to any of their classes, whether online, hybrid or traditional.

In order to make this process as simple as possible, there will be Panopto training available in LearnerWeb. If you need assistance with this migration, please submit a ticket to helpdesk@cpcc.edu. If you have any questions, please email gary.ritter@cpcc.edu. We thank you in advance for your cooperation. Your students will appreciate it.
