Personal Counseling Assistance Program (PCAP)
Human Services are designed to promote or enhance the personal well-being of individuals. The Human Services Technology degree at CPCC provides students with a basic body of knowledge and skills that will prepare students to be effective in a wide range of human service agencies. Within the Human Services Program, students may choose to concentrate in either Developmental Disabilities, Human Services Technology, or Substance Abuse.

Program Description
Students will take courses from a variety of disciplines. Course work will provide an understanding of the personal, psychological and social impact of issues such as:
- Domestic violence
- Child abuse and neglect
- Homelessness
- Mental illness
- HIVAIDS
- Substance abuse
- Teen pregnancy
- Developmental disabilities
- Aging
The following Human Services Technology courses have been approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), HSE 125 (Counseling), HSE 225 (Crisis Intervention) and HSE 227 (Children and Adolescents in Crisis).
Human Services is one of the fastest growing professions heading into the next century. Graduates should qualify for positions in mental health, family services, social services, rehabilitation, correction, child care and educational agencies.

The Internship is the capstone of the Human Services Technology Program. Students are placed in Internships at an area agency during the last year of the Program. Internships allow students the opportunity for first-hand experience in the Human Services field. It is an occasion for students to network with other professionals in the workplace.
