Phlebotomy
MLA 8001
General Information:
The CPCC Phlebotomy program can be completed in one semester. It is offered in spring and fall. This program is patterned on requirements of the American Society of Clinical Pathology (www.ascp.org), enabling participants to sit for certifying examinations. This program is recognized by local employers.
Program Information:
The CPCC Phlebotomy program consists of one course, MLA 8001, which is 176 hours in length. The course is divided into two parts: classroom and clinical. The first seven weeks of the course is spent in lecture classroom and/or laboratory setting with an online component. Upon successful completion of this portion of the course, students will enter into a clinical rotation. Since the clinic site’s weekend (Sat and Sun) hours are limited, students should plan to be available for clinicals at least 16 hours a week (Monday-Friday) for 7 weeks. During this time, students will be required to perform a minimum of 100 successful “sticks” and 100 clinical hours to successfully complete the program. Clinical locations and times vary depending upon availability of clinical sites. Students must provide their own transportation to the clinical sites.
