Up one level

View videos of a diagnostic catheterization turned into an interventional catheterization where a blocked artery is repaired using tiny "stents" mounted on balloons.

Left Heart Catheterization (coronary arteries and left ventricle) — last modified 2009-03-20 09:10
To view this, you must open them in either Mozilla FireFox or Adobe Media Player. Several looped images to view the coronary arteries and left ventricle in different angles. This set of angiograms demonstrates normal coronary arteries with no major filling defects.
Coronary artery angioplasty with stent placement — last modified 2009-03-16 13:03
Several looped images (not in sequential order) demonstrating the repair of a blockage (the narrowed part of the vessel) in the Right Coronary Artery using a tiny metal device called a "stent". This is placed in the coronary artery over a small wire and expanded using a small balloon which is withdrawn after it is deflated. The stent remains behind and acts as scaffolding to help keep the vessel open.
