Central Piedmont Community College’s Business and Accounting Division is pleased to announce it will host its inaugural “Business & Accounting Week: Making the Grade in Today’s Economy” event March 26 – 30 on the College’s Central Campus. Throughout the week, the general public, as well as CPCC students, faculty and staff, will have the opportunity to attend a variety of FREE presentations – given by many of today’s industry trendsetters and leaders - on topics such as marketing, global issues, economics, interview strategies, money management and others.

Business & Accounting Week was created to connect CPCC students to the resources needed for them to achieve personal and professional success. Throughout the week, students will have the opportunity to mingle with local business leaders, while learning how to prepare to enter the workforce and gaining a better understanding of today’s global issues that impact communities across the globe. Presentation topics will include: how to craft an elevator speech, how to properly dress for an interview, how to manage earnings and more.

CPCC has assembled a number of notable presenters to host these discussion topics, including:

  • Emmanuel Jal, author, musician and activist. Mr. Jal will moderate the week’s Global Issues Forum on “Youth as Global Change Makers.” As a child born into the life of a child soldier in Africa, Jal has founded a charity dedicated to helping communities overcome the effects of war and poverty. He speaks around the world and has addressed the United Nations and the U.S. Congress concerning his causes. In addition, he has performed for Nelson Mandela and with Alicia Keys. He will bring his unique perspective to this CPCC event, discussing how the power of education can change young lives and how youth can affect change in their community and beyond.
