CPCC SVA group to celebrate Veterans Day with flag display, flag raising ceremony

WHAT: In honor of Veterans Day on Nov. 11, Central Piedmont Community College’s (CPCC) Student Veterans of America (SVA) chapter will remember America’s fallen soldiers during the following memorial events:

Flag Display
Monday, Nov. 5; 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Overcash Building Lawn
CPCC SVA Chapter members will place more than 6,600 flags on the Overcash Building lawn. Each flag will represent the life of an American service member who was killed during the Iraq/Afghanistan War. Members of the community are invited to attend the event and assist SVA representatives with placing the memorial flags on the lawn. The project may take three to five days to complete; therefore, a member of CPCC’s SVA will be present each day between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., until all of the flags are placed.

Flag Raising Ceremony
Monday, Nov. 12; 11 a.m.
Central Campus Quad

In observance of Veterans Day, CPCC’s SVA Chapter will host a flag raising ceremony at the flag pole on CPCC’s Central Campus. The event will also include, a salute to all of the military branches of service, a moment of silence for America’s fallen soldiers and the playing of “Taps.”
