Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC), together with the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce, is excited to announce it is currently accepting applications for its new Small Business Certificate program, scheduled to launch in August 2014. The program will help local entrepreneurs develop superior leadership qualities, local and national business contacts, proven marketing tactics and strategies and more, while boosting their business effectiveness with customers, vendors and local lending institutions.

“The Small Business Center at CPCC has a long history of assisting local business owners,” said Renee Hode, executive director of the Small Business Center at CPCC. “This partnership will enable us to further address specific needs that will allow businesses to not only grow and flourish, but also demonstrate their value to their peers and the greater community.”

During the program, participants will attend two, 60-minute sessions each month, led by CPCC Small Business Center instructors. The seminar content will focus on important topics such as marketing, budgeting, problem solving, business funding and more.

In addition to learning valuable information during the seminars, students will engage in valuable one-on-one counseling sessions with Small Business Center mentors and area professionals, receive a ProfitCents analysis of their company’s finances (valued between $2,500- $5,000), and meet with select business leaders and local celebrities during exclusive CEO roundtable events.

“Through our strategic partnership with CPCC’s Small Business Center, we hope to see a positive ripple effect on the local economy,” said Bill Russell, president of the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce. “Combining targeted business training with networking and coaching opportunities will give Charlotte area small business owners the tools and competitive advantage they need to take their business to the next level and create jobs.”

The cost to participate in the program is $299/quarter. Chamber of Commerce members pay $199/quarter. Individuals who sign up now will receive an additional $50 off each quarter’s membership.
