Congratulations to Central Piedmont Community College for earning 2018 Tree Campus USA® recognition. Tree Campus USA, an Arbor Day Foundation program, honors colleges and universities and their leaders for promoting healthy trees and engaging students and staff in the spirit of conservation.

To obtain this distinction, Central Piedmont met the five core standards for sustainable campus forestry required by Tree Campus USA, including establishment of a tree advisory committee, evidence of a campus tree-care plan, dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program, an Arbor Day observance and the sponsorship of student service-learning projects. The entire campus community should be proud of this sustained commitment to environmental stewardship.

"Our status as a Tree Campus USA demonstrates our commitment to environmental stewardship, education, and sustainability," said Zachary Harris, grounds and site coordinator at Central Piedmont. "Our community is fortunate in the fact that it has a beautiful tree canopy and many people who care about it.  Tree Campus USA is a great opportunity for our community to become involved with the growth, maintenance, and education of our trees. This will enhance the quality of our landscape, and it will enhance how students and staff deal with trees."
