Scoring and Course Placement

A student’s placement in a Math course at CPCC is guided by his/her placement test scores. Most often, scores on the ACCUPLACER placement test are used to determine the appropriate math course.
The ACCUPLACER scores and corresponding placement are designated below.
Arithmetic Test (AR) | |

Algebra Test (EA) All courses from MAT 080 through MAT 171 require a minimum arithmetic score of 55 in addition to the Algebra score listed below. | |

College-Level Math Test (CLM) A student must earn at least a 55 on the Arithmetic Test and at least an 85 on the Algebra Test to be eligible to take the CLM test. | |

If a student has taken a Mathematics AP exam, he/she must contact the Mathematics Division Director for appropriate placement.
