Regulations for Changing Program Codes

All faculty advisors and others who, after meeting with a student and obtaining the student’s authorization, want to initiate a program change on behalf of the student should be familiar with the following information:

  1. Students who have not applied to the College should be referred to Admissions at any CPCC campus or to the online admissions application. However, faculty advisors and others in Instruction may want to assist existing students who are:
    • Newly applying for a diploma or degree program
    • Changing from one program to another
    • Adding another program
    • Moving from Special Credit (T90990) status, Continuing Education or Basic Skills areas
  2. A Program Admit/Change form is available for this purpose online at http://inside.cpcc.edu/instruction/forms/default.asp or by going to the Instruction website and clicking on Forms.
  3. The form must be completed and signed by both the student and faculty advisor or other individual acting in an advisory capacity.
  4. It is critical that the form be completed as accurately as possible and that the following always be included:
    • Student name and ID#
    • Term and the catalog year for the new or added program.
    • Name of the new program and the new program code
    •  Ask the student to:
      • Answer Primary Academic Program Yes or No to indicate whether or not this program is the student’s primary goal.
      • Indicate whether or not they plan to Keep or End the current program of study.
  5. Forward all completed forms to Admissions at your campus as soon as possible, or, optionally, the student for whom the request is made can deliver his form in person.
  6. Please remind students who wish to be admitted to a program of study of the following requirements.
    • Students must show evidence of high school graduation, usually by submitting high school transcripts, unless they provide proof of having earned an associates degree or higher from an accredited college.
    • Placement testing is required for most programs unless the student provides proof of having earned college level English and math credit from an accredited college.
  7. Students receiving financial aid should be aware that all courses taken, no matter the program of study, will be counted toward the 150% completion rule. Certificate programs are not eligible for Financial Aid unless they include 16 credit hours or more. Students who have questions should visit or contact the Financial Aid/Veterans Affairs office.
  8.  If you have questions concerning procedures or the Program Admit/Change form and it’s use, please contact the Admissions Office at your campus for clarification.
