Orientation - Faculty/Staff
The College recognizes that orientation for new faculty and staff is a cooperative effort by several areas of the College.
The Center for Transformational Learning
The Center for Teaching and Learning has the responsibility for the orientation of new faculty. The components of the program are:
- A multi-day workshop/seminar prior to the first day of teaching for all full-time faculty.
- Monthly new faculty workshops for the first year of employment.
- Semester-long mentoring with a seasoned faculty member for all full-time faculty.
- New part-time faculty orientation prior to employment.
- Online orientations, teacher training and resources for all faculty.
Personnel Services
The Personnel Office has a responsibility for explaining job description, contract, salary, tax forms, reference letters, official transcript request form, CPCC Policies and Procedures Handbook, direct deposit, vacation leave, sick leave, etc.
Benefits Specialist
The Insurance Specialist has a responsibility for explaining benefits including retirement, dental, professional liability, health, term, life, workman’s compensation, disability coverage, etc.
Instruction Division
The Division Director, Instructional Office Assistant, Program/Discipline Chair, and Program Coordinator have responsibility for explaining courses, course syllabi, load units, office hours, textbooks, teaching materials, divisional procedures, reports, travel, reprographics, absences, evaluations, etc.
Professional Development
The office of Leadership and Staff Development has responsibility for conducting frequent orientation sessions for new employees and for explaining the mission, history, priorities, vision, resources, etc. of the college.
