New Program Procedures
- Program/Division develops a new program idea
- Division Director presents idea to appropriate Dean
- Program/Division conducts needs assessment within the community to determine:
- Is there a need for this program in our community?
- Should this program be a degree program, a diploma, or a concentration?
- Should this program be offered in collaboration with another college/colleges?
- What is the cost of the program (including support services, i.e. Library, facilities, counseling/advising)?
- Are there outside funding sources for the program?
- What will be included in the creative marketing plan?
- Dean presents program idea to the Vice President for Instruction
- Vice President for Instruction presents program idea to Cabinet as an information item.
- Division Director discusses proposed program with appropriate Systems Office Staff
- Dean/VP for Instruction present program proposal to Instructional Programs and Institutional Support Committee of the Board of Trustees for information
- Division Director establishes an advisory committee to assist in the planning process.
- Division Director notifies college Curriculum Committee of proposed program.
- President notifies all community college presidents, chief academic officers and VP for Academic and Student Services at the System Office that the college intends to apply for the proposed program. This notification should also ask the colleges if any are interested in participating in a planning meeting for this program.
- Division Director invites all colleges that expressed an interest in the programs, and the appropriate System Office representative, to a planning meeting.

- Division Director submits completed application to the CPCC Curriculum Committee
- Division Director submits completed application to the Dean and VP for Instruction
- Dean/VP for Instruction submits application to the Instructional Programs and Institutional Support Committee of the Board for approval
- Dean/VP for Instruction submits application to the Board of Trustees for approval
- Dean/VP for Instruction submits Curriculum Program Application to the System Office for Approval
- Dean/VP for Instruction will notify appropriate college personnel of program approval:
- Marketing/Public Relations
- Graduation Office
- Counseling
- Registration
- Faculty Senate
- Library
- Cabinet
- Board of Trustee
