This course provides practice in the writing process and stresses effective paragraphs. Emphasis is placed on learning and applying the conventions of standard written English in developing paragraphs within the essay. Upon completion, students should be able to compose a variety of paragraphs and unified, coherent essay.
The writing lab is designed to reinforce the skills introduced in ENG 090. This course is designed to improve reading and critical thinking skills. Topics include vocabulary enhancement; extracting implied meaning; analyzing author's purpose, tone and style; and dreaing conclusions and responding to written material. Upon completion, students should be able to comprehend and analyze college-level reading material. Students will also be able to respond effectively to amterial across disciplines.
