Mobile Device Synchronization

Select the appropriate Operating System (OS) that you are attempting to synchronize your employee e-mail account with:

Android

Note: The steps provided to complete this process may vary slightly depending on the Android device you are using.

  1. From the home screen on your device, tap Settings or press the Menu button and select Settings



  2. Locate and tap Accounts & sync



  3. Tap Add Account



  4. Choose to add a Corporate or Exchange/ActiveSync account



  5. Enter your employee e-mail address/password and tap Next
    1. Note: If provided the option to setup the account manually please do so and skip to step 7



  6. Android may not be able to automatically obtain the server information which will require you to enter it yourself.  Tap the dimmed background (as shown below) to modify the fields manually
    1. Other Android devices may have an option to setup the account manually at this point.  If so, select that option



  7. Enter the following information:
    1. Employee username
    2. Domain: cpcc.edu (this field may be part of the username field as seen in the image below)
    3. Password
    4. Server: mobile07.cpcc.edu
  8. Ensure that both check boxes for SSL are checked off and tap Next



  9. A notification may appear regarding Remote Security Administration.  Tap OK if you are willing to proceed

  10. Select which items to synchronize and also the frequency your Inbox will be checked for new items.  Once complete, tap Next



  11. You may receive a notification regarding the activation of device administrator.  Please read the content and tap Activate if you would like to proceed



  12. The next screen will prompt you to enter a name for the mailbox.  Enter a name or tap Next to complete the process

Blackberry

  1. Open the main menu (or All menu) from the home screen on your Blackberry device



  2. Select Options



  3. Select Device



  4. Select Advanced System Settings



  5. Select Enterprise Activation



  6. Enter your employee e-mail address
  7. The activation password for your device will be provided to you via e-mail by the Help Desk
  8. Select Activate


This type of connection requires that your Blackberry have a data plan capable of supporting activation via a Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES).  Please consult your service provider if you are unsure what kind of data plan your Blackberry device currently has.

It may take several minutes for the process to begin, however, your device will notify you once the activation process is complete. At that time your e-mails, calendar appointments, and contacts should be synchronized with your Blackberry smart phone. iOS (iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch)

An iPhone 4S running iOS 6.0 was used to create the steps below.  The steps used to complete this process on an iPad or iPod Touch are very similar.

  1. From the home screen on your iOS device, tap Settings



  2. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars



  3. Select Add Account and choose to add a Microsoft Exchange account



  4. Enter the following information:
    1. Employee e-mail address
    2. Password
  5. Tap Next at the top right corner of the screen

    Your iOS device will attempt to locate the Exchange Server.  If necessary, you will be prompted to enter the following information:
    1. Server address: mobile07.cpcc.edu
    2. Domain: cpcc.edu
    3. Employee username



  6. Once your information has been verified, select which content you would like to synchronize with your device as shown below:
  7. Tap Save at the top right corner when ready



Note: If you receive a message stating "Unable to verify account information" please ensure you have a data/wireless connection and are entering your credentials correctly.

If you need to modify your Exchange settings, perform the following steps:

  1. From the home screen, tap Settings



  2. Select Mail, Contact, Calendars



  3. Select your CPCC Exchange account and tap Account

Windows Phone 7

  1. Tap the arrow at the top right corner of the screen to access the Program List
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select E-Mail & Accounts
  4. Select Add an account
  5. Select Outlook
  6. Enter your employee e-mail address and password
  7. Select Sign In
  8. You will be prompted to enter the following additional information:
    1. Employee username
    2. Domain: cpcc.edu
  9. If prompted to include the Server Address, enter the following: mobile07.cpcc.edu
    1. Ensure that the Server requires encrypted (SSL) connection option is enabled (if shown)
    2. Select Sign In
