Windows 7 Application and Hardware Support

 Application Installation and Support

Applications that bear the Windows 7 Compatible Logo:
Applications which do not bear the Windows 7 Logo must undergo rigorous testing by ITS to ensure it is compatible with Windows 7 and does not interfere with existing system configurations before they are approved for installation.
  • Application that do not pass internal application testing will be denied for installation. Examples of application compatibility testing include but are not limited to:
    • Must install and uninstall cleanly on 32 and 64-bit version of Windows 7 operating systems
    • Must conform to the Windows 7 UAC (User Access Control) features
    • Must comply with WRP (Windows Resource Protection)
    • Must install and utilize the proper Windows 7 folder locations.
  • Applications that are approved for installation, but do not bear the Windows 7 Compatible Logo, will not be supported by ITS unless explicitly supported by the vendor.

 

Hardware Support

Hardware that bear the Windows 7 Hardware Logo:
Hardware which does not bear the Windows 7 Hardware Logo must undergo rigorous testing by ITS to ensure they are compatible with Windows 7 and do not interfere with existing system configurations. All hardware must pass the following tests:
  • Hardware and drivers must install and uninstall cleanly for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7
  • Vendor must explicitly provide support for using the hardware and drivers with 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7
