Employee Username Change FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:

 

Who will be affected by this change?
Any CPCC employee who has a username containing the last 4 digits of their Social Security Number (SSN) will receive a new account.

Why is my account being changed?
This transition is being done to protect the security and integrity of your personal information.

What will my new username be?
The new username format will utilize a portion of your Employee ID number.  For example.  If your name is John Doe and your Employee ID is 1234567 your username will appear as djx4567e.

Will I be able to access any services such as e-mail, the Intranet, and other online applications during the transition?
During the transition period taking place between December 15, 2012 and December 18, 2012 all CPCC systems will be inaccessible.

What is the timeline for the transition to the new account format?
The transition will begin on December 15, 2012 and conclude on December 18, 2012.

When will I be able to access all College services with my new account?
Access to College services will be restored on December 18, 2012.

What should I do if my account still isn't working after the transition has completed?
If you are unable to login to your workstation or access any other College services, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 704-330-5000 or helpdesk@cpcc.edu.

What changes will I need to make to any mobile devices connected to my employee e-mail account?
With the exception of Blackberry devices, any mobile devices that have your employee e-mail account attached to them will need to have the account information updated or re-added.  To view instructions for synchronizing your employee e-mail account with a mobile device please visit the Mobile Device Synchronization web page.

How can I modify the wireless settings on my laptop or other mobile device(s)?
To re-authenticate to the CPCC Secure wireless network, please view the instructions on how to connect on the CPCC Secure wireless network page.

Will my office phone still work?
Your office phone will work during the transistion. However, the Microsoft Lync software application will not be available until December 18th.

What will happen to my e-mail during this time?
E-mail services will be unavailable during the transition, however, all incoming messages will still be delivered to your Inbox.  Any out of office messages setup prior to the transition time will continue to function.

Should I shutdown my office computer on Friday, December 14th?
No.  Please ensure that your workstation is powered on, but you are logged off prior to the Employee Username Change process.  This will ensure all files and services continue to operate when services become available on December 18th.

Can I access services remotely during the transition?
No.  All services will be unavailable including remote services.

Will Critical Alerts function during the transition?
Yes.  The Critical Alerts Notification system will continue to function during the transition via text messaging or voice alerts only.

Will registration kiosks work during the transition?
Yes.  Registration kiosks will be available and function for student registration purposes.

Will students be able to register and pay for classes during the transition?
Yes.  Students will be able to register and pay for classes through the MyCollege online registration system.
