Q: How do I qualify for in-state tuition?
A: You qualify for in-state tuition when you have documentation that proves you have been a resident of North Carolina for atleast 12 months. Bring the documentaion to the admissions office to ensure that the college has you labeled an 'in-state resident".


Q: Can I take more than 18 credit hours per semester?
A: Yes, you can take more than 18 credit hours a semester, his is called a “course overload.” In order to register for more than 18 hours, you will need to contact the instructor of the course that will force you over 18 hours. This instructor will need to give you “overload” permission” for that particular course, and you will need to register for that particular course last.


Q: When do I have to pay for my courses?
A: Refer to the myCollege website for specific information about tuition payment deadlines. If the bill is not paid by the applicable deadline, all courses will be dropped from your schedule.


Q: If I decide to drop a course, do I get my money back?
A: You will be refunded 100% of your tuition if you withdraw from a course before the first day of the academic semester. You will be refunded 75% if you withdraw on or after the first day of the academic semester through the 10% point of the semester.


Q: Am I registered after receiving a yellow copy of my courses from an Academic Advisor?
A: No, the student must take the course(s) listed on the yellow copy of the intake form, the CPCC schedule and a worksheet to work out the location, days, and times (no overlapping times) that best fits their schedule. The student can then register online, by telephone or in-person during the assigned registration period. It is also important to keep a copy of the schedule for future reference.


Q: What is a prerequisite and co-requisite?
A: A prerequisite is any course that must be completed before enrolling in the course requiring the prerequisite A co-requisite is the course that must be taken during the same term as the course requiring the corequisite.


Q: What is a PIN number?
A: A PIN number is a personal identification number assigned to each student by Admissions after completion of the CPCC application fform. You will need the PIN to register for classes each semester.


Q: What is a credit?
A: A credit is the number of units earned upon completion of a curriculum course, measured in semester hours.
