Workplace Learning/Cooperative Education
Co-op: How you can gain hands on experience and receive college credit
WHAT IS WORKPLACE LEARNING/CO-OP?
Workplace Learning/Cooperative Education is an academic class commonly called Co-op, which blends classroom learning with practical work experience. Instead of attending “class” in a traditional classroom, students work with an employer in a position directly related to HVAC for a semester. Students receive a grade for co-op like any other class required in their degree. Co-op is an elective in the Associates degree and an elective in some HVAC certificates.
Students must have a 2.5 GPA and be recommended by their faculty coordinator and the Co-op Coordinator. Students must meet the programs eligibility requirements. For eligibility requirements please contact the Workplace Learning Department at 704-330-4419 or stop by Harper 344 for more information.
