Health Insurance
Health insurance benefits are sponsored by the State of North Carolina. There are four plan options, the Indeminity Plan and three SmartChoice PPO plans. Detailed information about each plan can be found at the links below:
The plan year runs for a twelve month period from July 1st through June 30th of each year. All of the expenses and deductibles are figured on this twelve month period. There is an open enrollment period each year. During this period, full-time employees may make changes to their coverage for themselves and their dependents. To make adjustments to health insurance coverage any other time of the year employees must meet certain criteria. An employee wishing to change his or her health insurance coverage should contact the Human Resources Benefits staff.
