Register for Career and College Promise

Fall and Spring classes are tuition free but some classes may require a nominal insurance fee. Students must pay regular tuition and fees for summer classes.

 1. Apply for Admission

The admissions application is required for all career and college promise students.  The application will ask you for information such as your name, address, social security number, birth date, education history, etc.

Once you complete the application you may submit it by:

  • Scan and email to ginny.bobbitt@cpcc.edu
  • Fax it to 704-330-6136
  • Hand-deliver the application to the Registrar at any campus

Once we have processed your application, you will receive an admissions letter by email. This letter will include your Student ID Number (You will need that number when creating your CPCC login).  If you do not receive an email with your Student ID within 3 business days of submission, please contact ginny.bobbitt@cpcc.edu

2.  Consult your Counselor

CMS high school students must meet with their Career Development Coordinator or Guidance Counselor to determine their eligibility for participation in CCP.  The CDC or Guidance Counselor will notify CPCC of your eligibility and assist you in selecting your pathway. CMS students must see their CDCs prior to enrolling in CCP for any subsequent semesters to confirm that they want to continue on their current pathway or to switch pathways. Contact information for each CDC can be found here.

Non CMS high school students must complete the Career and College Promise Pathway Approval Form to assist CPCC in determining eligibility. Students must bring a copy of the completed form, official copy of their high school transcript prior and official proof "college readiness" assessment scores to the registrar at any campus. We encourage students to complete this process two weeks prior to Career and College Promise registration.  Please allow a minimum of 2 business days to process paperwork if submitted after registration begins.

Non-CMS students must submit a new copy of their high school transcript and a new pathway form prior to enrolling in CCP for any subsequent semesters. On the form, they may confirm that they want to continue on their current pathway or switch pathways. Students do not need to re-submit their assessment scores as CPCC will have those on file. Again, we encourage students to complete this process two weeks prior to CCP register.

CPCC offers these pathways.  If you are a CMS student and would like to know which career cluster a given pathway fits within, please click here.

3. Create your CPCC Login

You will be assigned a username and must create a password to complete your CPCC login. This login is required to access your personal information such as financial aid documentation, academic records and student email account. It is also required to log on to the computers at any CPCC campus.

View a video on how to create CPCC login.

4. Activate your CPCC email address

CPCC provides an official student email account to every student. This CPCC Google email is our official means of communicating with students and is used by Financial Aid, the Cashiering Office, instructors, advisors, for campus alerts and much more. Check your CPCC student email everyday.

View a video on how to login to CPCC email.

5. Take the Accuplacer/Placement Test

Students must demonstrate college readiness on an assessment or placement tests in order to register as a dually enrolled high school student in the Career and College Promise Program.  CPCC recommends each student take the Accuplacer Placement test.   Students can take the test on any of our six campuses at no charge.  Students should refer to the testing website for more information on appointment times for testing. Students are encouraged to review the practice test on the website to prepare for the test.

CPCC can use the official test scores from the following other approved diagnostic assessment tests:  PLAN, PSAT, ASSET, COMPASS, and SAT/ACT scores. The benchmarks for each test, including the accuplacer can be found here.

6. Register for classes

Students may register online or in person.  When you register, please make sure you only select classes that are on your pathway; otherwise, your classes will be dropped. If you would like to view a demonstration that covers how to register online, click here.

If you have trouble finding or registering for classes that fit your schedule, please email Margaret Smith for assistance: Margaret.smith@cpcc.edu

7. Buy your books

Print your schedule from your MyCollege account and take it to your campus bookstore or buy your books online.  Not all books are available at all campuses.

CMS students should check with their CDC or Guidance Counselors to see if there are books funds allocated for this program.

You are responsible for buying your text books.  Limited scholarships may be available to defray this cost.  Click Here to apply for a CCP book scholarship.  The deadline for applying for a book scholarship for the fall 2013 semester is July 15, 2013.

8. Pick up a Parking Permit and get your CPCC Student Identification Card

Parking permits are required on all CPCC campuses.  You can pick up your parking permit at the Cashiering offices on any of our six campuses.

Get your free Student ID card after you register and pay for your classes.  It will serve as your library card and may be used in the community for a variety of discounts. You will need to bring a photo ID in order to obtain a student ID card.

9. Attend mandatory orientation session

Orientation will provide an overview of Central Piedmont Community College and its policies and procedures.

All new Career and College Promise students are required to attend an orientation session or view the following power point and complete the quiz found here.

If you are taking an online class you will also need to complete an e-learning orientation found here.

Please be aware that due to FERPA, college personnel are limited in the information that they can provide to parents.

For up to date information on registration, please contact Margaret Smith at 704-330-6637 or email us at outreach@cpcc.edu If you would like to receive periodic updates about this program via email, please click here to submit your contact information.
