How To Get Started

There are five steps to follow if you want to register for classes:

Step 1. If you have never attended CPCC before, you need to complete a CPCC Admissions Information Form. You are required to have a CUL, HRM, or BPA program code to register for classes in the Hospitality Education Division. This form is available online at www.cpcc.edu/admissions/admissions and on any CPCC campus.

Step 2. Take or mail your completed Admissions Information Form to the Admissions area on any CPCC campus, (if you haven’t submitted it online.) From this, you will be entered into the college’s computer system and be able to make an appointment for placement testing by calling 704-330-6886. The purpose of these tests in English, reading, and math is to ensure that you are placed in classes that match your current level of skills.

Placement Tests are to be taken with scores of
66 – 85 in Sentence Skills
57 – 79 Reading, and
43 – 64 Arithmetic

If the student scores below the minimum score, a refresher course or courses must be taken in that subject with a grade of “C” or better before registering for CUL, HRM, or BPA courses.

Exception: An official copy of the student’s bachelor’s degree/transcript must be on file with CPCC’s Student Records office before consideration may be given to “bypass” placement testing.

Step 3. After taking your placement tests, see a counselor. The counselor can help you choose classes to register for. You may reach the Counseling office on the Central campus by calling 704-330-5013.

Step 4. Register for classes in person on any campus, on the Internet at www.cpcc.edu/admissions/registration, or by telephone using CHRIS at 704-330-6970, our computer handled registration and information system. Pay for your classes within five business days after you register or your registration will be cancelled. You may pay by credit card online or on the telephone. CPCC also accepts cash and checks at the campus Cashier office.

Step 5. In order to complete your admission to CPCC, your official transcript of your grades from all previous schools attended (high school and college) must be on file.
