The Hospitality Industry represents 8.1 percent of the global economy and is projected to increase to 18 percent by 2012, adding more than 1.6 million new jobs. Tourism has grown into one of the state's largest industries. Annually, over 60 million people visit North Carolina and leave behind more than 14 billion dollars. Established, full-service restaurants, hotels, resorts, clubs, catering operations, contract food services, and health care facilities are all looking for educated, qualified chefs. The population is growing and so is their appetite for good food! CPCC will train you to have the right skills for the right career at the right price.
The Baking and Pastry Arts program provides the training to prepare students for a career as a baking/pastry professional in a varietly of foodservice settings. The two-year program includes twelve baking classes that include Artisan & Specialty Bread, European Cakes & Tortes, Petit Fours & Pastries, Chocolate Artistry, and Pastry & Baking Marketing.
The Culinary Technology curriculum provides the training to prepare students for careers as culinary professionals in full service restaurants, hotels, resorts, clubs, catering, contract food service, and health care facilities.
The Hotel and Restaurant Management curriculum prepares students to understand and apply the administrative and practical skills needed for supervisory and managerial positions in hotels, resorts, inns, restaurants, institutions, and clubs. In addition to a two-year Associate's degree, the program offers diplomas in Hotel Management and in Restaurant Management, as well as four specialized certificates.
