Educational Events

·         Panel Luncheon: MARCH 28th  (12:00-1:30) at Cato Campus.

Enjoy a free lunch and meet our new faculty members. John Holmes, Randy Sigg, John Royals, and Frankie Fanelli will share what’s new in their respective areas of expertise. Many of you have not met Randy or Frankie…so here’s your chance. This is a great opportunity to get up-to-date information from the experts in their respective fields and also get some of your questions answered.

Please RSVP to Liz Harris no later than March16th!

We had a great turnout at our annual educational event at the Mint Museum on February 6th.  Mark Weathington, the new Assistant Director and Curator of Collections at
JC Raulston Arboretum spoke on drought resistant plants. Timely topic and great delivery!

Many thanks to all that made this event exceptional!

Updates from Members & Alumni:

From John Zerbarini:

“With all of the challenges facing our industry during this drought, I've just been dealt another: I was laid off a week before Christmas from Ecoscape Solutions Group. I'm getting together my portfolio of designs and photographing some jobs during the least ideal time to showcase them. I'm talking to a few people already but would appreciate any referrals you think would benefit me at this time.”

From Ashleigh Jackson:

“I wanted to let you know I put the CHAPS lunch on my Calendar for March 28th and plan to attend. I also wanted to ask if I could promote my design for Paragon Landscape Management's Showcase Garden at the Southern Spring Show in the next newsletter. I am very excited about it and have been working on it for the past month. The theme for the Southern Spring Show this year was "Shades of Green.” I was proud to receive Honorable Mention and The Environmental Award for the Garden design.”

From Fred Hannon:

“A few of you have emailed asking what I've been up to. Outside of driving my wife crazy for the last two months, I've actually been pondering my next career move. I am pleased to say that I have found the perfect opportunity and I start next week.

I've accepted an offer with RecycleBank (www.recyclebank.com) to be their GM for the Southeast region. Check out the site, but in a nutshell, the company encourages recycling and rewards households for doing so.

I'm really excited about this opportunity because it's a start-up company where I can really have an impact. In addition, it provides the added benefit of allowing me to do something meaningful for the environment.

Thank you all for your well wishes and encouragement. Please stay in touch!   704-756-6874

Want to network? Need a job, assistance, or help finding a resource? Just let me know and I’ll publish! Next newsletter will come in late April or early May.

Notice two new Board members and one absent! Cindy Chaney took a job that allows her to handle a lot of money! What a strange concept. We will miss her intensity and humor. Thanks Cindy.

Ashleigh Jackson and Doreen Williams have agreed to be on the CHAPS Board. They will provide great energy and guidance. Thanks for your contribution!

Here’s Cindy warning Ashleigh about the gray hairs she will get from being on the Board!
