Program Overview
The Physical Therapist Assistant Program admits one class of 30 students each year. The application to enter the program in 2010 is now available on this website under the "Admissions Information" link. Deadline for submission of all application materials is February 26, 2010. Read the application carefully, as many changes in process have been made. Questions may be directed to Vanessa Gooden at 704-330-6958.
Course work includes normal human anatomy and physiology, the consequences of disease or injury, and physical therapy treatments of a variety of patient conditions affecting humans throughout the lifespan. The program is a full-time day program.
Graduates are eligible to take the licensure examination administered by the NC Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. Employment is available in general hospitals, rehabilitation centers, outpatient orthopedic clinics, school systems, geriatric health care facilities, and home health agencies.

*As a condition of program admission, students may be required to verify that they are United States citizens or are otherwise legally authorized residents of the United States.
**International students should refer to the College Catalog for information regarding evidence of English competency. Academic resources available to international student may be accessed through the Office of International Programs and Services, located on Central Campus, OC 210C.
***In order to participate in clinical education experiences at health care facilities, students will be required to submit results of a NC state or national criminal background check at their own expense.
