Geomatics and Sustainability Division

As the Charlotte/Mecklenburg region faces increasing population and economic growth it is becoming more essential to lessen the impact on our natural resources. The flucutation of energy availability caused by natural disasters has shown us just how fragile the Earth is, and how much WE are impacted by shortcomings of our natural resources. During the Atlantic hurricane season of 2008 many Charlotte residents were faced with tough decisions concerning fuel, work, and food. As we look towards the future we must plan for a sustainable world to live, work, and play in.
The Geomatics and Sustainability Division at Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) is dedicated to providing leadership throughout the region in environmental modeling and sustainable develoment. The division offers a variety a educational oppurtunities as well as outreach efforts that will help our community live and work in a more sustainable manner and obtain employment within the burgeoning sustainability and geospatial technology fields.
