What is reverse transfer/credit when it’s due (CWID) at CPCC?

The awarding of an associate degree to students who previously attended CPCC and fulfilled the associate degree requirements while working towards a bachelor’s degree at a participating university in North Carolina.

How do I participate?

  • Eligible students will be asked to participate when they transfer to one of the participating universities. Check your university emails regarding the program and be sure to “opt in,” or check with a counselor for additional instructions if you do not receive the opt-in email.
  • The CWID/Reverse Transfer program has different requirements and in order for these to apply, you must first enroll at the university.

Am I eligible?

  • You must have completed/earned at least 30 percent (21 college-level credit hours) at CPCC.
  • Your associate degree then depends on the credits earned at the university; each student’s credits will be evaluated to see if the combined credits meet the degree and graduation requirements
  • The universities will send data to us twice a year (approximately February and July). We will evaluate your earned credits until you have reached a total of 90 credits earned for the possibility of awarding the associate’s degree, so your information may be sent to us multiple times for evaluation.
  • We may contact you for additional information.

How does it work?

  • After you have given permission for the university to send your records to us, you need to update your MyCollege credentials so that you can access your CPCC email account.
  • The university will send your records to us after you have earned at least 60 credits.
  • We will download your data, evaluate your transcripts, pull in the appropriate courses, and certify if eligible.
  • In approximately 6-8 weeks, an email will be sent to your CPCC email account and university account (if it was supplied to CPCC). If you are eligible, you will receive a degree order form. You will receive an invitation to participate in the graduation ceremony the following May. Invitations will be sent in March/April.
  • If you are not eligible, you will be notified via email by CFNC/NCCCS
