Adult High School/GED Graduation Ceremony

Central Piedmont Community College will honor graduates of the Adult High School Diploma and GED programs at the graduation ceremony May 18, 2010, 1:30 pm, Bojangles' Coliseum.  Detailed information will be mailed to eligible students in early April 2010.

 Who is eligible to participate?

Students who have completed their GED since the previous summer may be eligible to participate.  Graduates of the Adult High School Diploma program from the previous summer and fall, as well as current potential spring graduates, may be eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony. 

When will I receive information about the ceremony?

Detailed information is mailed to eligible students in April.

Where can I purchase my cap and gown?

Caps and gowns are available at the Central Campus Bookstore (located in the Hall Professional Development Building on the corner of Elizabeth Avenue and Independence Avenue). College ceremony participants should purchase a dark green cap and gown. Women should make sure that their gown includes a white collar.

Is there a rehearsal for the graduation ceremony? 

A rehearsal for the AHS/GED ceremony will be help in early May 2010.  Information on this rehearsal will be mailed to eligible students.  Attendance at the rehearsal is mandatory. 

What time should I arrive at the graduation ceremony?

Graduates should arrive at Bojangles' Coliseum at 12:30 pm on May 18, 2010. Please arrive in your cap and gown, as there are no dressing rooms available for students. Please also make arrangements to leave your belongings (purses, cell phones, etc) with someone else, as there are no lockers available.

How many guests may I invite? Do they need tickets?

All seating is first-come, first-serve. You may invite as many guests as you like and they do not need tickets to gain admission to Bojangles' Coliseum.

How much does parking cost?

Parking for the afternoon is free.

How long will the ceremony take?

The ceremony will last approximately 1 1/2 hours. A small reception will be held after the ceremony for graduates and their guests.

Will I receive my diploma at the ceremony?

Diplomas are not issued at the ceremony. All students receive a congratulatory letter from the College President.
