2010 Summer Financial Aid

The 2010 Summer Financial Aid eligibility has changed. Read Below!!!

The 2010 Summer Financial Aid Application is only available for:

·         Pell recipients who did not attend Fall 09 & Spring 10 full-time and have remaining funds leftover for summer and

·         Pell recipients who attended full-time Fall 09 & Spring 10.

Financial Aid for summer school is a separate process from the academic year. The following steps are necessary to complete the application process:

  • Have already completed, submitted, and received a Financial aid award for the 2009-2010 academic year.
  • Complete and submit a 2010-2011 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application online at .http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.
List the CPCC Title IV school code 002915. You do not need to be awarded for the 2010-2011 academic year to be eligible for summer Financial aid.
  • Register for summer 2010 courses (when registration opens).
  • Update your address with Student Records if it will change during the summer.

CPCC considers a financial aid year to begin in the Fall and end in the Summer the following year.   Summer, therefore, is the end of the academic year.  For instance, aid for the Summer 2010 is based on the 2009-2010  academic year’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) information.

Summer Awards

Financial aid for the Summer Semester is limited to the Federal Pell Grant and the Federal Work-Study programs.  In the past, many students would have already received their full annual maximum amounts from the Federal Pell Grant Program during the Fall and Spring semesters and did not have any federal aid remaining for the Summer term. However changes have made funds available for the Summer 2010 semester where students who did attend Fall and Spring terms full-term have funds readily available to use.

If a student received a Federal Pell Grant for the Fall and Spring semester for full-time enrollment, they now have remaining Pell Grant eligibility for the Summer term.

If a student has remaining Federal Pell Grant eligibility (not full-time for the Fall and Spring terms) and meet all other eligibility requirements, a completed Summer Financial Aid Application should be submitted to our office no later than May 10th.

Please note:

Spring semester compliance with the SAP policy cannot be determined until the final grades are received.   Therefore, if a student is registered for classes and determined not to be in compliance with SAP, they may be billed to repay any financial aid received for the Summer.  This also includes any bookstore purchases.

Changes in Enrollment

If you drop below  half-time enrollment (6 credit hours) or drop a course during the summer, you may become ineligible for all or a portion of your financial aid.

Deadlines

Priority deadline for this application is May 10, 2010.  All funds may not be available after May 10th.  Failure to meet this deadline may result in a delay of financial aid.

Applying Late

Late applications for summer financial aid will be accepted until August 6, 2010. After this date we will no longer be processing summer financial aid.
