Student Employee Week

Outstanding Student Employee Awards

Recognizing Student Employee Contributions

Each year colleges and universities across the country recognize the importance of the student work experience during National Student Employment Week. Student employment offers students career-enhancing opportunities, the ability to develop skills relevant in any career, and better preparation for the job market upon graduation.

Of course, a primary motivation for most students is the need to help pay for their education. Many students are able to earn a significant portion of their college expenses, thus avoiding the debt burden so common with college graduates today.

On our campuses, student employees perform invaluable services with enthusiasm, dedication, and initiative. Indeed, Central Piedmont Community College depends on the contributions of this reliable workforce for the efficient operation of the entire campus.

It is appropriate to set aside a special week to draw the awareness of others, both on campus and off, to the contributions student workers make in the multitude of roles they fill. By celebrating this week, you will reap the incidental benefits of increasing employer awareness of the service you and your students provide, increasing your employer base and positions available for students, and providing an open forum for discussion of student employment and career-related issues.

Student Employee Appreciation Week

Student Employee Appreciation Week is celebrated the second week of April.  This week consists of a series of workshops and events to assist student employees to get the most from their employment at the Central Piedmont Community College.  Departments are encouraged to remind their student employees to attend and show their appreciation for their contribution, without which the daily and long-term operations of the College would not be possible.

Student Employee Appreciation Party

Student Employment Appreciation Party is a chance for student employees to enjoy food/drinks, mingle and network with their peers and enjoy the ceremony for Outstanding Student Employee Awards. Departments are welcome to attend with their student employees.

Do you have an outstanding student employee who you would like to recognize?

This program recognizes 1- 5 students each academic year for their outstanding performance, productivity, customer service and other initiatives that have resulted in meeting the educational and organizational goals of the College.  Recipients of this award can be nominated by faculty, staff, and students of CPCC and will be recognized at the Student Employee Appreciation Party.

A committee will evaluate all nominations.  The Financial Aid Office will coordinate, monitor and provide administrative support for the awards process.  The Financial Aid Office will have no voting powers.

Nominations may be for eligible student employees within your department or from another department.  Eligibility requirements are included on the nomination form.  Nominations of groups of individuals will NOT be considered.  Nominations can be made beginning March  1st.

While it is possible for more than one student to receive an award from a department, it is important that the submissions be individualized for each student, in order to determine their outstanding qualities.
