“Art is inspiring and impactful; it offers something to everyone,
— Bill Gorelick
In an effort to make art more accessible, Bill Gorelick and Central Piedmont Community College have constructed an open gallery space on the College’s Levine Campus in Matthews, NC. The campus which is somewhat industrial in its design offers an ideal space for a dynamic layout that can be transformed based on the featured exhibit. The College’s diverse student body and faculty along with its Arts & Communications program make it a natural collaboration.
Movable walls, pedestals, track systems for two-dimensional works and lighting have been installed to showcase the College’s first exhibit: Exhibition of Works from the Gorelick Collections. Bill and Patty Gorelick along with Shelton and Carol Gorelick are exhibiting 18-plus sculptures and paintings for the exhibit which is open to the public October 7, 2013 through January 2014.
Gorelick’s vision is that CPCC continues to use the space to showcase student work as well as works from other local collectors and artists (perhaps even some gallery and museum basements).
