Message from Dr. Tony Zeiss, CPCC President

As you are probably aware, Central Piedmont Community College lost its founding president on December 26, 2012. Dr. Richard Hagemeyer established the College in 1963 and led its development for 23 years. His memorial service was held on Thursday at Myers Park Baptist Church, and Dr. David Hunter and I were honored to speak about this remarkable educator. He was a giant in the early community college movement and cared deeply about career education and student development. We have lost an extraordinary leader, but his legacy endures every time we help a student on his or her path toward career success and self-sufficiency. As we serve our students through the college’s fiftieth anniversary, let’s remember that we are privileged to do so based on the foundational values set by Dr. Hagemeyer and his initial CPCC faculty and staff.
