Funding

FTEs are collected with the use of Crossroads Café Classroom. In North Carolina, ten contact hours are awarded for each completed and returned episode assessment. This number is based on three elements of the distance-learning course:

  • Total number of hours of instruction or programming received by students
  • Number of hours expected for outside-of-class work, and
  • Any direct contact hours with instructional personnel related to the program.

Therefore, if a student completes all 13 episodes of Crossroads Café A - 130 contact hours can be counted. Using these contact hours, a college calculates its generated FTE. It is, therefore, vital that students complete each assessment before moving on to the following episode. Careful record keeping is essential. A student study/learner log is also encouraged for tracking study hours.
