Overview of Activity Plan: Understanding driving laws of North Carolina

Suggested Time Allowance: 5-10 minutes

Outcomes: The students will know how to go about obtaining a driver’s license, how to get a driver’s license plate for a car, and what to do if stopped by a police officer while driving.

Procedure: Before watching the interview with the students, the teacher will tell the students to pay close attention to the steps and rules that the police officer talks about. After watching the interview, the teacher will conduct a discussion about the laws in this country and the laws in the students’ countries.

Watching and Listening: The students will write a paragraph explaining why driving laws are important. Another paragraph should give some examples of dangerous scenarios that are avoided because of driving laws.
