Homeland Security Threat Levels

The Federal Government has developed an advisory system that uses color codes to inform citizens about the risk of potential terrorist threat nationwide. Typically these codes apply to the nation as a whole and do not reflect specific threats against a city or a region.

The following levels represent an increasing risk of terrorist attack.

Green (Low) A low risk of terrorist attack(s).
Blue (Guarded) A general risk of terrorist attack(s).
Yellow (Elevated) A significant risk of terrorist attack(s).
Orange (High) A high risk of terrorist attack(s).
Red (Severe) A severe risk of terrorist attack(s).
