Introduction

This year, the eLearning Seminar (eLS) will be highlighting new resources and opportunities to enhance teaching and learning through the use of Google Apps. Attendees will be trained in the use and instructional application of Google Docs, Spreadsheets, Forms, Presentations, Calendars, and Sites. Additionally, one day of the seminar has been dedicated to multimedia production techniques. Upon completion of the eLearning Seminar, you will have the tools and training to create engaging course content, facilitate online collaboration, and media-enhance your online courses.

Who is eligible to attend?

When is the Seminar?

  • Dates: May 12th to May 17th, 2010
  • Times: meets 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.daily
  • Location: CPCC Central Campus, building and room TBA

Who is eligible to attend?

  • The eLearning Seminar is limited to 15 participants
  • eLearning instructors who teach or will teach online by the Spring 2011 term (IN, TW, or HY delivery methods)
  • Full-time instructors will be given priority consideration
  • Part time faculty will be available to participate by approval of their Division Director
  • Instructors who have participated in previous eLearning Seminars within the last two years are eligible to participate but will not be provided with new equipment.

What is expected of participants?

  • Participants will create learning exercises and/or media lessons to be integrated into online courses
  • Participants will commit to a showcase session presented to their division peers and/or the college community
  • Participants will continue to experiment with infusing Google Apps and multimedia into their online courses throughout the year
  • Attendees must commit to attend the seminar in its entirety including all sessions

Resources

What tools and resources are provided to participants?

The following eLearning development tools and resources will be provided to participants. The equipment will belong to CPCC. If the faculty member leaves the college, the equipment will remain at CPCC for the benefit of other instructors and students.

  • Video webcam with built-in microphone
  • Microphone headsets
  • Google Apps
