CPCC's eLearning Community

Welcome  CPCC Faculty!

eLearning/Instructional Development  provides faculty support for a variety of electronic instructional resources.

CPCC uses two Learning Management Systems for the delivery of eLearning:  Blackboard and Moodle.

If you are new to eLearning and eTeaching and would like some guidance in choosing the LMS that is best for you, here are some things to consider:

  • Find out what LMS is used by other instructors who teach in your area. Using the same LMS can make it easier for you to share content and obtain assistance.
  • Ask to try out both LMSs. Both Blackboard and Moodle are highly regarded as online instructional environments, but they have a very different look and feel.  You may find one or the other has immediate appeal (or not!)  Email idev@cpcc.edu to request a "testdrive."
  • Blackboard is the LMS used for the majority of elearning classes. Using the most popular LMS increases the likelihood that at least some of your students will be familiar with the course layout, etc. allowing you to  concentrate on getting your eTeaching skills up to speed.

In-person training on different aspects of both LMSs are offered each month for all faculty, full-time or part-time.  To register, login to LearnerWeb using your UserID and password, locate the training session you wish, and click on Enroll.

Convenient online tutorials are available for both Blackboard and Moodle. If you're using the LMS to supplement a classroom course, this may be all the help you need to set up your course website.
