Moodle Instance Rollovers

Rollover Process
After the end of every semester, ITS performs Moodle semester rollover. Rollover means a new instance of Moodle will be created for each new semester. The rollover of instances will occur on the third day after the end of term. During this time for swapping instances, there will be a temporary downtime. The URL moodle.cpcc.edu should have a news item earlier indicating the outage timeline.

During the outage, moodle.cpcc.edu will have a redirect page indicating the outage. The URL for semester Moodle instances will be named by the semester (eg, moodle.cpcc.edu/Fall04). Master Course/Dev, upcoming Semester, current and past semester instances will be available via a link from the CAW site. Instructors will be able to access the appropriate semesters through a selection in CAW.

After the rollover is completed, instructors can visit CAW, and under the Moodle section, they will find links to the Current Moodle, and the previous semester instances. Instructors who have students working off incompletes will need to send a link with the new URL to that semester.
