General Apartment and Rental Maintenance Certificate

This program is designed in conjunction with the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association serving as an introduction for new maintenance professionals, as a refresher for the veteran employees or for owners of rental property, to give them the knowledge and tools necessary to run an effective maintenance program.

Maintenance expenses are the single largest controllable element in any operating budget. With this program, you will learn how to fix and make repairs that preserve the property and create a community where residents are more likely to renew their lease.

Basic Plumbing I (PLU-7500) held
on Levine Campus.
Topics covered during the class include:
• Basics of plumbing
• Installation of a fixture and water
• Repair a leak

Basic Drywall Repair (CIX-7513)
held on Harper Campus.
Topics covered during the class include:
• Repair holes, dents, general
cosmetic imperfections

Carpentry Core Skills: Doors and
Trim (CIX-7503) held on Harper
Topics covered during the class include:
• Basic door hanging
• Installation of door handles and
• Installation of trim
• Basic hardwood floor repair

These classes, taken in conjunction with the curriculum certificate in General Apartment and Rental Maintenance, will provide the core skills necessary for this career pathway. The additional courses include NCCER Basic CORE or Wheels of Learning (WOL 110); Basic Electrical (ELC 113) and Air, Heating and Refrigeration (AHR 110, 160, and 180).
