JumpStart Scholarship
Purpose
To provide a non-monetary scholarship for the tuition, fees, books and supplies for the short-term certificate programs that support industries that have a high demand for technically trained workers. These programs currently include: Autobody, Autosports, Carpentry, Print Shop, Applied Electrical, HEATT, BLET, welding, machining, Office Systems Technology, HVAC and the North Carolina Early Childhood credential. COE 110 (World of Work) or an alternative, such as an HRD course, may be recommended by participating programs at this time, but will no longer be required. Only courses approved and coded as a certificate and included in JumpStart will be funded. English language learners are supported with English language classes. Ask Academic Advisor for details.
Eligibility Requirements
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen under state residency status.
- Be a North Carolina resident.
- Be underemployed or unemployed, or have the need or desire of learning new skills to change careers.
JumpStart Scholarship Award Policies
- Dropping a class or withdrawing will affect the possibility of getting the scholarship again.
- If you withdraw or drop any class, you will be required to return the books to the JumpStart Academic Advisor. Phone 704.330.4653
- Contact the JumpStart Academic Advisor If you are considering withdrawing or dropping classes.
- You must complete a JumpStart application and if selected you must sign a contract.
- Individual Certificate Programs may have additional policies.
