Q. How much does the CAPS Fee cost me?
A. The CAPS Fee will cost:
- $73 per semester for curriculum students enrolled in 8 semester hours or less
- $97 per semester for curriculum students enrolled in 9 semester hours or more
- $12 per class for Corporate and Continuing Education students.
No student will be charged more than $97 each semester.
Q. Where does my money go? What does the College do with the CAPS money collected?
A. Revenues collected from CAPS Fees are used to pay costs of campus security and parking lot rental and maintenance at all CPCC campuses and centers.
Q. Does the CAPS Fee change during the summer semester?
A. The CAPS Fee will be charged during the summer semester is the same rate charged Fall and Spring semesters.
Q. I dropped all my classes before the first day of the semester. Will my CAPS Fee be refunded?
A. Students who enroll in curriculum courses but drop all their courses prior to the first day of the academic semester will have the CAPS Fee refunded.
Q. I don’t drive to campus. Why do I have to pay the CAPS Fee?
A. All CPCC students who use our campus facilities benefit from the presence of CPCC Security Services, which are funded by the CAPS Fee.
Q. I am an on-line student. Am I required to pay the CAPS Fee?
A. Students who enroll in both online classes and classes on CPCC campuses are required to pay the CAPS Fee. Students who enroll only in online classes are exempt from the CAPS Fee.
Q. I take classes, but not at a CPCC campus. Does the CAPS Fee apply to me?
A. No. CPCC students enrolled in classes that meet at area high schools or other locations not owned and operated by CPCC are not required to pay the CAPS Fee.
Q. I take classes in Adult High School, English as a Second Language, as a Senior Citizen, or as a compensatory education student and I don’t pay tuition. Does the CAPS Fee apply to me? How do I get my parking decal?
A. No. CPCC students enrolled in classes that have no tuition costs are not required to pay the CAPS Fee. You can pick up your decal by bringing your student receipt/schedule which verifies that you paid the fee to the Campus Security station on your campus.
Q. I am a Corporate and Continuing Education student. How much does the CAPS Fee cost me? How do I get my decal?
A. The CAPS Fee will cost Corporate and Continuing Education students $12 per class. You can pick up your decal by bringing your student receipt/schedule which verifies that you paid the fee to the Campus Security station on your campus.
Q. Where do visitors park?
A. On Central Campus, visitors and new students may go to Lot #9 behind the Central High Building and park for a fee of $3 per park. On other campuses, visitors may get answers to parking questions not answered by this website at the information center on campus.
Q. I got a parking ticket. What do I do now?
A. Parking citations must be paid within 7 business days of issue date to avoid penalty. Please see instructions on the citation. Send citation appeals to:

Students should try to be aware that many of our neighbors are private business owners. They reserve parking spaces for their customers and staff. Unfortunately, business owners may enforce their towing policies as posted at lot entrances in order to reserve their spaces.
Q. When and where do I get my parking decal? What do I need to bring with me?
A. Each term, one week before class starts and one week after class starts, students can retrieve their decals at:
Cashier's Business Office (Central High)
- 8:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday-Thursday
- 8:00 am – 5 pm Friday
IT Building Lobby
- 8:00 am – 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Monday – Thursday
- 8:00 am – 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Friday for the first two weeks of class (August only)
Decals will be distributed at the Cashier's Business Office at the hours stated above.
Students will be required to present a class schedule/receipt and their name on a control sheet. Students will receive a decal with an identification number to place on their vehicle.
Q. Where on my car do I put the parking decal?
A. The static-cling parking decal is to be placed on the inside of the driver's side rear window.
Q. Can I put this on another car that I drive to campus?
A. Yes. You will be issued a static-cling parking decal, and it can be moved from one vehicle to another.
Q. I lost my decal. Where do I get another? How much will it cost?
A. A lost decal will be replaced for $5, after verification of prior payment of the CAPS Fee. You may pay the $5 fee at the Cashier’s Office at any CPCC campus location.
