WIA Overview & Eligibility


What is WIA?

WIA stands for the Workforce Investment Act which provides funding for education & training related to employment. The programs are administered through local Workforce Development Boards (WDB) /JobLink Centers to help dislocated employees and impoverished adults become gainfully employed and self sufficient.


Am I eligible?

Individuals who have been displaced from employment and those who are unemployed or underemployed may qualify for WIA funding. To determine if you qualify under either the Displaced Worker or Adult Services Programs, please contact your local Job Links Center.


What will WIA cover?

  • Any approved degree program, certificate, or continuing education training:
  • A variety of education & training formats:
    • Classroom-based at one of CPCC’s six campuses
    • Online (classes offered via the Internet)
  • Training toward the Career Readiness Certificate (CRC)
  • Training that can be completed in six sequential semesters (two years) or less
  • Expenses for tuition, books, fees and supplies
  • Childcare and transportation (Check with your JobLinks Center for eligibility.)
