Surprisingly, perhaps, employers in the region say that Charlotte has a shortage of IT candidates for positions in business intelligence, network security, programming and health information technology. Not only do employers report this gap, some recent studies show a present shortage of qualified workers in these areas. These studies predict this demand to increase by more than 25 percent in the next six years.
To respond to this local talent gap, CPCC is taking the lead role in a federally-funded initiative known as REACH IT, which stands for the Regional Effort to Advance Charlotte Information Technology.
Awarded by the Department of Labor, this four-year grant positions CPCC to train unemployed workers for mid-level professional jobs in the exciting field of information technology.
